    stinky santa Stinkys First Christmas

    Foreword

The team at stinkythepig would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope that wherever you are, or wherever you are planning to go, that your lives are filled with happiness and the spirit of giving. There are just over a handful of days till the completion of this year. Have you reflected on the year that was and made any realisations? Whatever your endeavours are, we faithfully believe that each and every individual in this world has something positive to offer – whether it is to your loved ones or with the whole world. Remember our philosophy of helping the world realise its own potential – one smile at a time.

Take care of your body and spirit. Wishing you happiness that extends beyond yonder.

    The team at stinkythepig

It was a week before Christmas and the snow was falling… well it was in some other part of the world. Christmas time down under was always sweltering hot. It’s not unusual to see plants bow lifelessly and grass turning a shy yellow colour. It seemed as though the breeze had taken a holiday and humidity was the substitute teacher. But put all these things aside, Christmas time was special.

Everyone had their own interpretation of special though. For some, it would mean a gift from a store while others would be overjoyed by a long-awaited phone call from an old friend. There would be some that purchase presents for themselves and some that are homeless who would shed tears when given a warm meal. But regardless of what it is that makes Christmas special for you, the spirit of giving is more prevalent compared the rest of the year. It is humanity in its rawest state – the way it should always be.

And although some of us have grown up to realise that Santa and Rudolph and the Elves are fictional, we still wish that they were real. Sometimes I wonder when it is that we start to lose faith in these things that make us happy and begin to grow up. But the ironic thing about all of this is that when we start to have kids of our own, we tell them these fictional stories and the cycle goes on and on. So it’s as if we know it is false, but hold on to it because it was one moment in time where all that you remember is just plain happy. So even if the truth in the stories we tell are stretched beyond yonder, there’s one constant that never changes – and that is happiness.

So when we picture our beloved Christmas characters, what do we picture? Obviously Santa Clause has red clothes and a white beard. Oh! And how could we forget about the bright, shiny, red nose that Rudolph has. These things will never change no matter which country you grew up in or which cultural background you are from. I am pretty sure I remember Santa speaking Chinese at one stage in my life and that did not change the way we pictured him – caring, loving and sharing.

    HO HO HO

    What was that?

    HO HO HO Merry Christmas!

Ok well that was weird. I just looked out the window and saw some funny looking pig dressed up as Santa. People would do anything to get attention nowadays! He looked somewhat comical and rounder than the Santa that I remembered as a kid. But he did have a cloudy white beard and carried a sack full of toys and for some funny reason a Christmas tree magically followed him around.  I think I might have to lie down. I must be seeing things.

So let us continue. Rudolph! With your nose so bright, won’t you be my shining light? I’m pretty sure I got it wrong but wasn’t that the reason why Rudolph was created in the first place. Rudolph comes in all shapes and sizes, and keep in mind that he doesn’t always have a red nose! He’s the friend, brother, parent, colleague or stranger that helps you out when you need it most. They are there when you need someone to lean on so that when you walk, you don’t fall. But sometimes falling is not as bad as you think, because regardless of who you are, there is always one ‘Rudolph’ in your life that will pick you up. Eye opening right? Sometimes the things that are most vivid in our memories are the things that we see with our hearts rather than our eyes.

Errrmm, I just saw the same pig walk past again. But this time he was dressed up as Rudolph. The weather must be doing weird things to my imagination. Pretty cute I must admit though. He even had antlers! I think I need some rest.

    MEANWHILE…

Stinky was strolling through the streets in a friendly neighbourhood. He noticed a person typing busily on his laptop. He looked his way and gave him a quick smile before he continued on. It was quite funny when he noticed the man touching his forehead to check if he was hallucinating. He must not see pigs very often. Today was awfully hot, and the Santa Claus costume he purchased made Niagara Falls look like a gentle stream compared to his natural flow of sweat. But Christmas time was all about getting into the Christmas spirit, so a little discomfort was worth it.

There was however, something that was bothering him. He felt as though he was being followed by someone. But Stinky didn’t know anyone in this neighbourhood so he was perplexed as to who it may be. He thought he saw a chubby reindeer, but every time he turned around there was no one to be seen – weird to say the least. It was time to get going and onto his next adventure. He hoped that if there were someone following him that he could come out so he could make new friends. He also hoped that the man typing away on his computer didn’t get too much of a shock.

‘Where to next I wonder’ Stinky thought. ‘Maybe the North Pole!’

    Stinky’s aquatic encounters

Imagine you’re in a dark place, unfamiliar creatures lurking about. You watch while they drift by not even noticing your presence at all. Although dark, the place is filled with an explosion of dark tones and tints that it almost seems colourful. There’s some splashing and the cacophonous mumble jumble of water flowing and falling. Do you know where we are yet?

It’s ok if you aren’t familiar with the above description. You don’t really find yourself in an aquarium that often… right? So Stinky made his first visit to an aquarium. Most people would go to an aquarium to see aquatic and marine life. But this time around, they were greeted by a smiling cheery pig! Now that has got to be exciting right?

The adventure started off with a bang. When walking in, we were first greeted by a ginormous shark! It wasn’t real, but it almost seemed lifelike – its mouth wide open bearing the full package of razor sharp teeth. If this was an indication of what was to come, then it would surely be an experience Stinky would never forget. As we walked into the aquarium, a colony of emperor penguins said hello. It’s amazing how still they can stand because at times, it almost looked like there weren’t real. A very tame creature that stands tall with dignity. They seem to have a quality that we can all learn from – be proud of what and who you are. That’s something a great many of us can’t seem to get right. There are times where I would wonder if we are as great as we make ourselves out to be. Let’s park this thought for now.

We move along and one thing really stood out to Stinky. He remembers snorkeling in the ocean and thought that he had seen the wonders of the water. He hates to think that what he saw was inferior to everything he saw today. But the thought did cross his mind. And to be honest, we tend to behave like this in all matters as well. We always come across things that are bigger and better in our journey. Sometimes we look back and think that the things we had in our past resemble a drop of water in an ocean. But we also forget that it’s the experiences we have – big or small – that make us who we are. So never discount the once significant things in your life.

As we make our way down some ramps, we begin to see the light of day fade away. The light becomes bluish and the jitterbugs start to take over. We make our way deeper and deeper until we walk right into the middle of a humungous tank. As we pick our jaws up from the floor a manta ray glides above us, while its shadow swallows us for mere seconds. There are fish. There are rays. There are… SHARKS! Oh what a sight they were. Stinky couldn’t believe his eyes. To think that the only thing separating Stinky and the sharks was only a piece of Perspex glass!

So we sat there for quite a long while watching the marine life gracefully swim about in their serenity. It is quite amazing how they all get along and just respect one another’s space. Stinky started to realise that sharks weren’t as aggressive and maniacal as the shows on TV made them out to be. Yes, they do possess and aura of supremacy. But they don’t go around bullying other fish just to show them that they are great. It’s a good reminder to be humble… whoever you are. Whether you are a powerful CEO or the leader of a nation, it’s a stark reminder that being humble is a quality that will earn more respect than if you were to be a power pusher.

We sat, we watched and then an announcement came on advising the aquarium was due to close. We didn’t want to leave such a relaxing and magical place. Eventually, we made our way out. It would be another experience Stinky would never forget. It really is true that life is not measured by the amount of breaths we take, but truly by the moments that take our breath away. Go forth and make these moments for yourself. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

    Till next time…

This edition of Stinky is dedicated to the faceless heroes – to all the people who do unseen acts of kindness and are never rewarded or acknowledged for them. We believe the world benefits from their acts and we would like to acknowledge all of them. It is through these selfless individuals that really help us realise our true potential as a collective. Cheers to you all! So how do we repay these phantom doers of good? Continue in their footsteps and show the same kindness towards a stranger. I’m sure they would be over the moon. We gain the most, when we give.

There comes a time in everyone’s life where you find perfect company to spend a lifetime with. And we’re not talking about a teddy bear or a musical instrument – we’re talking about love (drag the word out and say it very slow).

We won’t say too much now, but we really look forward to sharing our next post with you. There are two reasons why we look forward to it. Next week marks our fourth week of being live. Now this is a big deal to us. We have seen many come and visit our site and we are more than grateful to have shared a little something with you all. The next reason it is special comes down to this. When we proofread the post, I think a few of us got a little emotional. Not emotional because it was bad, but emotional because it is something that has touched our lives at one stage or another. So make sure you visit the site next Saturday so that we can share something special with you!

A quick update from behind the scenes. The team at stinkythepig have been working tirelessly to secure more products to add to Stinky’s online store. To say we are all excited would be a major understatement. The things we have coming are spectacular and we will make sure to let you know what we have in store very, very soon.

So in the meantime, we hope that you all have been well. Keep smiling!

    An update from the team

Hey guys! So it’s been one week since our launch and the buzz is as exciting as ever. We’re still working hard to bring you more products and more stories so please excuse us while we work toward bringing you more!

Many of you have read Stinky’s first story. What do you all think? When we read it, we thought that it was a great start before all the wonderful stories of his adventures are told. Having said this, we thought we would give you a little background information into how and when new stories will be posted. Our goal is to bring to you a new story and picture of Stinky’s adventures every two weeks. That way it gives you all time to read and understand the story whilst it gives us time to chase Stinky and write about his experiences. So please don’t feel as though we are not working hard behind the scenes.

Oh and one last thing, we want to keep things interesting around here. So please leave a comment below and tell us what you think of Stinky’s webpage. We would also like to test your memory and want to hear how tall you think Stinky really is. Who knows? We might even send you a T-shirt for your troubles. And if you have anything you would like to request from us, let us know down below!

That’s all from us this week. Remember to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more updates. New story out next week! So excited! Till then, take care and stay cool (or warm if it is cold).

    Happy Father’s Day

Comments Off on Happy Father’s Day

Today is a special day – and it’s not only because the sun is shining and the wind is carrying the sweet scent of spring. It is a day where we need to be thankful for those who have contributed to our lives and grateful for the nurturing guidance we have received.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

To all the fathers out there, the team at stinkythepig wishes that you all have a wonderful and fulfilling day. We know that being a father in itself is a reward however, today is where you are recognised for your contribution toward making families strong and whole.

    A message from Stinky:

Hello everyone! Happy Father’s Day to all the lucky fathers out there!

I wanted to share something a little personal with you all. I grew up not knowing who my father was. And I am sure some of the others in the barn knew what had happened to him but they all chose not to tell me. This was something that I had to learn to accept.

But having visited many places and experienced many things, I have come to realise that a father is someone that teaches you to have discipline and to possess resolve and strength not only when times are good, but also when times are tough. A father is a pillar, where anyone who needs can lean upon. I guess my ‘father’ has been the tough experiences in life that has taught me how to be a better and stronger person.

So to all you lucky children, make sure you show your father how special he is – not just today, but every day. And although a father might not show the same tenderness as a mother might, know that on the inside the amount of love is vast.
