It’s that time again where we look back at the year that has gone and see what new things we learnt along our journey. But first, let us mention a few memorable moments this year.

We witnessed the fall of one of my all-time greatest heroes in Lance Armstrong. The word ‘twerk’ became synonymous with Miley Cyrus. We saw the fall of European nations and masses of money spent to bail them out. The United States of America – the powerhouse of the world – shut down for a while. The Pope resigned and made headlines because apparently this is something that you just do not do. Someone named Snowden caused a ruckus in the US by taking intelligence and running away with it. A typhoon named Haiyan devastated parts of the Philippines leaving many dead and countless others displaced. We’ve seen North Korea on the news for all the wrong reasons. The great Mandela finished his innings 5 years shy of a century. We welcomed our new Prime Minister in Tony Abbott – I wonder what he has done for us so far? Apple ran out of numbers and started naming their toys after invisible stuff. The list goes on and on but what were the things that happened in our own lives to make it memorable for us?

Now that the festive season is wrapping up, now is probably a good time to look back and reflect upon the things that changed us in 2013. If there were things that changed you in a negative way, see what you can do to amend them. And for the things that made you a better person, then look to share it with the people around you – you can be the beacon for positive energy! The most important thing is to be true to yourself. After all, who is going to love you if you yourself do not? Think about it. Oh and for all those who thought that the holiday season was an excuse to over indulge, I challenge you to get off your backsides and make 2014 the year for a fitter and better you!
